The Wallington store will be hosting and taking part in a sponsored 5k walk at Beddington Park on Sunday 15th September at 10am as part of Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign.
Asda launched the Tickled Pink campaign back in 1996 to raise money to help improve the lives of people with breast cancer both now and in the future. It supports two charities; Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care. Breast Cancer Care provides expert information and professional support for people with breast cancer and their families; and Breast Cancer Campaign helps fund research into fighting the disease.
In a bid to raise as much as possible for the cause, every store in Asda’s south division (152 stores) will be hosting its own sponsored walk with the aim of raising £5,000 each. If every store reaches its target then Asda Wallington will have contributed to £1million being raised for charity in one day.
Sponsorship forms can be collected and donations can be made at Asda Wallington. Certificates will also be presented to any children, or pets, that take part in the walk.
Lisa Hunt, Community Life champion at Asda Wallington is encouraging customers and the wider community to dust off their walking boots and come together to support the fight against cancer.
Lisa, said: “Asda has a long and proud history of supporting breast cancer awareness, helping to raise more than £25m in 17 years.
“We hope the people of Wallington can get fully behind the activity as we all know someone or a family that has been affected by cancer. So much can be achieved when a community comes together to support each other so we hope we can reach our fundraising target.”
